I hope I still love it after I've washed it and it's curly instead of blow-dried straightish :) But so far I am having fun flipping it around and running my fingers through it.
Let me see - health reasonably good, ex-wife reasonably bad, child is wonderful, met a woman recently who I adore (and she adores me back), work is work, house is work, and so forth.
Life, while sometimes hard, is good. (FYI, my daughter is nine these days. :-)
Come on over to my LJ, and say hello! (Check my user info page - I keep a filter or two that you can get on if you want.)
And, tell me if anyone else you have friended is someone I know in real life that I should friend back?
Decent well -- good to see you here! I had checked out Tom's journal looking for you a little while ago, but didn't realize what your login was.
Although I must say -- you're one of the *tiny* number of people on LJ who call me "Mark". The effect of 20-some years in the SCA is that far more people use the SCAdian name than the mundane one. (One of the signs of people who've known me from college...)

Well, whatever you would prefer. Just let me know. But old friends are salutary - after all, we all remember one another back when we were REALLY stupid (and cute!).
Drop me an email so we don't have to leep cluttering Jane's lj (I tried to find one on your homepage and got fairly bewildered - but it is after midnight, so that could just be me).
Hi there! Long time no see! I connected to James through Raf's journal a little while ago.
This is the shortest my hair has been since I was 14 (the year I decided to cut it myself). It'll be weird for a bit, I think, but at least the stylist talked me out of bangs - she says it's too curly for them to obey.
Mark (jducoeur) is doing well, recently got a promotion at his dot-com employer. We're currently between cats, but will get another pair once we're really really done unpacking.
Yes, back in December we moved to Burlington, where we have elbow room, a big living room with skylights, and half an acre of garden. It looks like an unprepossessing raised ranch in my icon, but it's much bigger and in better shape than our old Waltham digs. We've managed to unpack two storage units plus Mother's things, and as soon as we get it all settled down we can get new cats.
Life, work, writing, more work, vacation... you know!
We enjoy living on the West Coast a lot - it's very lovely where we are and we benefit by being on the coast and close to the mountains. Our congregation is delightful and my work is interesting and never dull! T is enjoying freelancing and gardening, believe it or not. Our Tucker cat is an OLD kitty now, but he is kept spry by the younger stray cat we took out of the parking lot in FL before we came here. Random keeps Tucker on his toes and doesn't know the meaning of a growl, apparently.
We miss New England but don't miss the weather, mostly. After all, I haven't had to shovel snow for nigh onto ten years now and they've been good years.

I can understand that. While I *am* somewhat fond of New England weather, I found that one of the downsides of the new 2-driveway house was needing to buy a snowblower...
It looks great! Now you get to spend the next several weeks adjusting to how much less hair you have. You won't believe how many reflexes you've built up around that length of hair.
Each time I've gone significantly shorter, it's taken at least a month to adjust. Oddly, it was easier for me to adjust when I cut my hair down to about an inch than it was when I went from 3/4 of the way down my back to merely shoulder-length. Shoulder-length hair still swung, and still covered my neck, so I had no easy reminder that I was missing 10" until I went to move it out of the way of my shoulder bag and realized I didn't need to, or when I went to comb it and wondered why the comb was hitting empty air so quickly.
How cute is that! Where did you get it done? I had mine cut similarly a while back but was growing it out for Pennsic. I wanted to get it cut back down again when I get back but my stylist is out on maternity leave. I'd love a reccommendation...
It looks good. It is amazing how much lighter and cooler shorter hair is. That's the first thing I noticed when I went from really long to shoulder length.

And, yes, that Janis.
How are you doing? Tom told me some of your health problems - you're in my prayers. How's Mark? Cats, etc?
