It's that time of year again! My birthday and our wedding anniversary* both fall in the first half of July, and therefore we go out to "fancy" dinner twice. We have some favorite restaurants we return to again and again: Blue Ginger, the Blue Room, J's Restaurant at Nashoba Winery.

But knowing we have foodie friends, what restaurants are we missing out on? Please make recommendations.

*19 years, can you believe it?

Charlie and I had dessert at Heaven on Seven. And regretted having eaten dinner on Navy Pier instead of there. So you might try that. Now, of course, that would require visiting Chicago...but I would encourage that sort of behaviour (plenty of room for guests here...)

He agreed, while poaching Ben and Barbara's wireless access from the guest room.

You are in Chicago? You might have mentioned it. And I thought Ben was in ... London?

I just DID mention it. :-) And, Ben was in London, now Switzerland, home tomorrow. Robin will be joining Anna and I for a few days starting today and ending Monday, and Anna and I will return home Wednesday.

You still have my number? I have yours....

Say hi for me, please.

And msmemory, congrats and happy birthday! I don't know any restaurants in Boston anymore, but the Miramar Beach Inn in Half Moon Bay is quite nice, next time you're on this coast.

We drove through Half Moon Bay on a chilly November afternoon awhile back. Some time we should come out in fairer weather.

In my opinion, winter is the best time for that restaurant. It's in an old building just across one very small street from the seawall. Depending on tide and weather, you can get brilliant sunsets or stormwaves crashing on the rocks twenty feet from your dinner. The pacific in winter is more enthusiastic, and if you're dressed for dining you won't want to swim anyway.
