Well, the gown palegreyminion is selling because it's too small for her, is too small for me too. I disbelieve that it's actually a 16 as marked. Waaah.
I have no idea how manufacturers decide to label things though, and why the same size fits differently depending on the garment, the cut, and the maker. I just bought a size 18 skirt a couple months ago, and it is actually still a bit big (although the size 16 was still a little tight) -- but the size 18 pants I tried on felt like they'd been sized for a stick-thin teenager.
