It's going to be a VERY small Eastern Star meeting tonight. We've been having attrition problems anyway, to the point where our chapter really ought to be merging with another, but considering the mean age of our members, we're not going to have many people out there in the cold and ice.
Oh, look, it's snowing again. (Flurries merely.)

Date: 2003-12-03 05:12 am (UTC)I know about cold. The builder human still hasn't got a roof up, and the house is getting really cold. The other cats and I are cuddling and nesting as much as we can. And the office is even colder, if I'm to believe the humans. I think they have a secret warm place they're going to....
Stay warm!
Your friend,
Dawn
When I saw the weather...
Date: 2003-12-03 10:50 am (UTC)I lost count last night of how many times I was told I would make a fine Worthy Matron. Also got up the courage to say I wasn't sure I could get in line (said VERY gently).
No one was able to argue with the reasoning (it's not about one person, but about a full suite of officers plus sidelines times four). A couple people got an expression sorta like "damn, if she's figured THAT out..."
Having said all that, so much of yesterday was so wonderful! The folks who came to visit from the state-level organization were awesome to speak with, I learned a lot, the ritual makes my heart sing, I love being in a room full of ladies in elegant gowns, and remembering that simple service things like serving at a meal makes me very happy. It was one of the first things I did at an SCA event a gazillion years ago, and it still feels good.
Three cheers for msmemory, without whom I would not have known OES existed!

Date: 2003-12-03 11:31 am (UTC)I was talking with Karen and Donna about going up to Billerica for the reception for Fred Penney in two weeks. Karen was extolling the wonders of their active chapter. I admitted I was intentionally looking for my "next" or "second" chapter. :)
And the most convenient chapters for me, besides our current one, would be Wistaria [Needham], Aletheon [Woburn], or Billerica.
