Terrible market timing

After dinner, we went for a stroll around the new Nordstrom's, which opened today. Their shoes are trendy, but reasonably competitively priced (I looked at a couple of pairs, all in the $50-75 range, which is what Macy's would charge). But the clothes! Sooooo self-consciously fashionable, some to the point of unwearable, and all way out of my budget. I'm thinking they are just behind the times: we are in a recession now, and the market for $895 suit jackets is just not what it used to be. If they don't get themselves some fashionistas from Winchester or Wellesley the store is doomed. I'll be heading back to Macy's after all.

Date: 2008-03-29 11:18 pm (UTC)We used to have a Nordstrom's near us in Minnesota. I've shopped there, but I didn't know about its bra-fitting-fame.
So maybe give it one more shot? (I agree with you that they aren't going to get anywhere with $895 suits. And their bras are not cheap, from what I hear, but they are supposedly worth every penny, according to numerous people I've heard from about it).
