Have you?
I was #839 in my precinct. I waited longer at the traffic lights outside the high school than I did in the polling line. (And as I left, I got a poppy from the American Legion fellow, to wear on Saturday.)

Date: 2006-11-07 11:29 pm (UTC)I was finished voting by 7am. The polling place is 1 block from my house. And there are fewer than 800 people who are entitled to vote there.
Voting 3rd Party
Date: 2006-11-07 11:46 pm (UTC)voted 3rd-party for Lt. Gov. here in RI. Robert Healey, perennial
candidate of the Cool Moose Party (I am not making that up) is running again on a platform of abolishing the office. What do we need a Lt. Gov. for, anyway, he asks. I don't have a good answer.
Re: Voting 3rd Party
Date: 2006-11-08 12:23 am (UTC)Firstly, I refuse to vote for someone who I don't want to win. Voting for an idiot Governor because you don't like the president (and I don't) is just telling the idiot to keep up the being an idiot, because it is working. I refuse.
Secondly, I differentiate between National and local elections. I am confused by the fact that the war in Iraq was ever brought up in campaigns for city government...it isn't like the Cook County Board President is going to stop the war. The local Republicans here in IL have little to do with the national party of fascism and are much more of the old school of fiscal conservativism that Justin was lamenting the loss of. If there were one of those running against our motorhead incumbent Dem governor, I would vote for them...sadly, the Rep is just as much of a dope.
And I wish I had remembered the name of the guy who lost the primary to Stroger. I would have written it in. I really don't think any Chicago office should be hereditary except for Mayor. Sadly, the Republican is another person I cannot vote for, leaving me not voting in that race.
