It was great! We had about 70 people through at various points in the day, and they all seemed to have fun (even Greg, whose allergies bloomed in response to the pillowfight the kids had).

Notes for next time:
Second trash receptacle near the buffet
Bin or bag for recyclables (my conscience is twinging that we just tossed the plastic goods)
LOTS MORE beverages
More milk/cream for coffee
Um, buy beer? (d'oh!) and open more of the gift wines
Keep better track of gifts (anybody want to own up to bringing either of the Merlots, the Cooks' bubbly, or the Domesday mead?)

I'd thought to get to your party at least for a little while, but life interceded and threw us a curve ball. *shrug*

No "shrug" about it. Family first. I'm so glad your inlaws are OK.

I wish we could have been there.

Remember, if it came in contact wth food, it is no longer recyclable, really.

Also, you should watch the Penn & Teller's Bullshit episode on 'recycling'. Its an eye opener.

I was part of an LJ discussion about that episode a while back. Some year I'll manage to watch it.

However, my town wants all plastic & glass & metal in the recycling, no matter what it has touched, and if the trash people see recyclable stuff in the regular trash, they can't take it. They say it should be "rinsed" though. So what's the story on the 'contact with food?'

I wash my recyclables. But I don't rinse them well - who cares if there is soap scum on the recyclable materials?

Thanks! I'm glad you came. Although we both forgot to send you home with the furniture dolly, again.

Yep. I saw it last night when we were putting out the trash. (Some of the trash, anyway, we didn't want to shock the sanitation dudes)

I brought a bottle of Merlot. It seemed wrong not to bring Something.
