Perfectly reasonable

I don't think it's at all unreasonable to expect that my office trash should have been emptied some time between last Thursday and today. I had filled two wastebaskets to the brim, and was contemplating hunting up a third from an empty office. But I had to get grief from the guy who's supposed to have been covering for our janitor, and had the nerve to ask me why I didn't just take them down to the dumpster myself, "Oh, you won't do it because you went to Wellesley?" Fine, you want to consider me a snob, or a wimpy girlie, go right ahead. Just empty the trash before the mice get into the remains of last Friday's sandwich.

"Oh, you won't do it because you went to Wellesley?"

"My job is filling them. Yours is emptying them. If you want a new job, quit this one first." :-)

I roll my eyes in annoyance on your behalf. Can you drop a dime to his supervisor?

I would have not taken it to the dumpster myself in the off chance that the janitorial staff was unionized. I got a real talking to at work once for carrying my computer from my office to a demo room. I've been careful about those toes ever since.
