(no subject)

I just got flowers! I love flowers.

They were sent to me by my employer. For Administrative Professionals Day, which was Wednesday. Since I am apparently still a secretary, Master's degree notwithstanding.

I don't know whether to be delighted or annoyed. I think I'll settle on delighted, and to heck with them.

Oh, I hear you. ;) But if the flowers are really pretty, it becomes easier to overlook. *grin*

We have an admin.... and nobody did one darned thing for her on Wednesday. Late Wednesday afternoon, I asked what's up with that.

That's why my Blog has a recipe for Reverse Chocolate Chip cookies in it. They were for Marie.

You got screwed - my Admin got cookies. :-)

Humph. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts doens't seem to believe in Admin Day.

Last year, at least, I got a GC to The 99's.

Good choice. It's flowers! Even if the giver has a dubious excuse to give them, you might as well enjoy them. :)

We were debating what to call the day, since "Secretary's Day" was pejorative, and "administrative professionals day" is a mouthful (and not broad enough).

We came up with "Underappreciated support staff Day", but that solved none of the problems, really...

How about "free flowers day"? :P

I vote for Underappreciated Support Staff Day, because that's the best fit for me and my role! All it needs is a nifty acronym....

I've never quite understood why 'Secretary's Day' was considered bad...but then, to me 'secretary' has always translated out to 'she who runs the universe', so maybe that's part of why...

I've never understood either, and I've been a secretary, as was my mother before me.

But then, you _knew_ that you were the Demon Goddess of All the Universe, so maybe that was the difference...

I've never seen an office that wasn't run by the secretaries.

Yaas. My mother has been head secretary to the legal department at ETS for many years, and it's pretty clear to me that the entire company would have long ago collapsed without her...
