My latest venture is court heraldry. I've been a warranted member of Brigantia Staff for about 13 years, and dabbled in heraldry for most of the last 20+ years - but this weekend was only my second trial of court heraldry. After considerable pestering - and perhaps also [livejournal.com profile] baronadhemar being ill had something to do with it - he finally let me read a scroll at Hrim Schola early this month. I did all right, because in mid-court [livejournal.com profile] alethea_eastrid handed me another and said, prepare to read this one too.

This week Adhemar seemed to take for granted that I wanted to read again, and asked me to show up before court for assignment. Cool! He even indulged my request to read [livejournal.com profile] hakamadare's AOA. Plus I got to read Roz's Commendation/Safe Travels scroll. (She is moving to Atlantia, pout. Hey [livejournal.com profile] kfitzwarin and [livejournal.com profile] alienor, take good care of Rosalind Bennett when she turns up.)

I was much more comfortable this week. I apparently could be heard at least halfway back the hall. Now to work some more on pacing and breaths, so I don't end up breathing three words short of the end of a sentence. Definitely need more practice - but it looks like I'll be allowed to get that!

And if you can say "societatis" 5x, fast.... *grin*

Seriously, I had no idea Roz was heading south too. She's the 2nd person I know heading there... I'm trying to import in a couple of friends from down that way. But that's down 2 heralds for 1 in return, even if they do make it up this way.

Gonna miss Rosalind. *sigh* (And Gise, too, even tho we just met a couple of months ago).

I'd heard that Rosalind Bennet was heading out of town. Dammit. Probably really good for her family, though.

If I can be of help to you with projection etcetera, don't hesitate to ask.

Yeah, that would be nifty. Looking at your schedule, some possibilities are 4/7, 4/12, 4/14. Unless you are interested in eating *before* one of your other committments?

Lady-in-waiting, court/protocol herald, open-fire cook, costumer, former TI Editor. She's moving to someplace in Virginia, I think. Pretty well-rounded type.

More info - and a pic, because you might even recognize her.

Looks vaguely familiar - I think I recognise her old name.:-)
Give her my email (which J should have if you don't) and tell her to look us up.

I could hear you find from the back part of the balcony. You sounded fine, calm, and very professional. I had no idea this was only your second try at this.

Of course, it must be borne in mind that she was Worthy Matron of an OES chapter, full of Little Old Ladies who are hard of hearing, which meets in a big and somewhat echoey room. That was excellent practice. (And the reason I was quite sure she could handle court heraldry without any major problems...)

The dangers of an organization founded during the Victorian era. The terminology is, shall we say, occasionally a bit quaint...

I didn't know the OES was Victorian. It doesn't surprise me, honestly, but I never thought about it...
