[livejournal.com profile] elizabear is so cool! She's giving me her spare house seat for the Sunday matinee of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" with Kathleen Turner and Bill Irwin.

Bill Irwin, like ... you mean ... this guy?

(which it must be, as I note as I copy paste this that the offical home page is on Yelizaveta's web space.... wow.)

That sounds fun, if a bit weird. I have to admit that I can't quite picture him in the Richard Burton role....

Yeah, that guy. Did you see his PBS special? He's very cool.

Am I going to regret not reading the play in advance?

Umm, maybe. The play is Albee's most accessible (IMHO), in that if you pay attention you can get what's going on on the first pass through even at full speed. It's brutal commentary on the absurdity of social life, in the sense of no-holds-barred, but that's part of the fun, and so the play doesn't require much preparation.

I have heard good reviews of this production; I anxiously await yours. It's not my favorite Albee play (I really like The Zoo Story), but it's very good, and while I'm resigned to my decision not to get tickets for this production, I'm still rather curious. ;-)

I hate Albee, but this sounds like fun.

Here's a summary -- its not a comedy, really (certainly not as Burton and Taylor played it) but it does have funny moments.

May we all be saved from places with names like "Gradesaver". Gah.

Yes, that guy. :) As noted, I run his website for him, for which I receive tickets and hugs in return. It's a great deal!
