Tidbits

I really ought to write a post, but all I have is little bits.

Cupcakes for work. Would bake more often if getting the mixer out was not such a pain. Must clean off counter so that will be possible.

Crown Tourney in the wind in Lake Champlain

Happy tummy brunch at Bentley's

Macbeth. Too much Macbeth. My script book looks like a squirrel's nest with different stages of blocking notes many not filed correctly.

Need to put together kit of stage manager stuff. Where did I put stuff from MSND? Masking tape, duct tape, markers, pins, flashlight

Down to last clean pair of comfy black socks. Will need to choose one: a) do laundry; b) buy more socks; c) wear socks that are not black; d) wear socks that are not comfy.

Vacation planning. The trick is to commit to things that we know will be fun without getting just as strictly scheduled on vacation as we are at home. Hearst Castle, Culinary Institute of America, we'll see what else.

About 50 trick-or-treaters. I'll give candy to anyone in a costume, even if they're upper-teen-agers, but wearing a varsity jacket is not a costume (unless it's somebody else's).

A through C are issues of personal preference. Life's too short for D, though.

Sox appeal

5 minutes in, 5 minutes transfer to dryer
Pull them from laundry basket to feet
It's not like you are washing them by hand

In my opinion, this is where less is more.
Fewer clothes are easier to manage and handle.
More than 2 weeks = costume or storage.

So sayeth my book of bachelor ethics,
which I've gotta sell used

No, it's like I'm going to the laundromat with them. :)
The laundromat does have its virtues: I can do 6 loads in the time it takes to do one at home - I just can't do anything else much for that hour.

laundromats are perfect times for hand sewing, or reading :)

Get a working washer dryer - you can do a load of laundry while you sleep.....

It's on the list. First we repair the back steps so the guys from the appliance store can bring them in without breaking an ankle....

Some of your friends can repair back steps - or you can just have your friends bring the crap in anyway. A ramp made out of paired 2x6 and some 1x4 stringers for treads is cheap and can be made quickly.

Or you can turn your socks inside out and wear them again. :-)

(How do you re-use a condom? Turn it inside out and shake the f*ck out of it....)

All else aside...wear comfy socks. Life's too short for any other option.

California

Aha, so you're going to CA for vacation, I cleverly deduce. ;)

Have you seen Gum Alley in San Luis Obispo? There's also a very well stocked bar there with hundreds of beers. I'll think if there's anything else in that corner of the Coast I can recommend. Oh -- and the crazy hotel.

Brilliant!

No, neither Gum Alley nor the "crazy hotel." Tell me more :)

Dang it, I hate it when posts don't.

Ahem.

Gum alley: take a college town. Take an alley from the main street to a parking lot. Add years of gum chewing... it's a mosaic. Very scented.

The crazy hotel: http://www.madonnainn.com/ One of the first theme room hotels. The caveman is famous; there are others worth at least looking at online. I've never stayed there, but would like to.

Oh: have you been to San Simeon/Hearst Castle before? I can give you some spots of advice about that also.

Take the main recommended tour, and something else that interests you, also about the house or grounds. Be sure to look over & down from balconies and such like whenever you get the chance; I recall seeing some little paths & such that were charming, which no one pointed out.

option h) I don't mind running a load of laundry through for you this week
