I so rock!

Spent almost an hour this morning trying to track down a thesis. Nothing under the author's name (which was a common one and I didn't have his first initial). No list of theses-for-that-year on the school's website. Only one reference to the topic at all, when the funding grant was given to his advisor. No CV for the advisor.

Finally wrote to advisor, asked if I had the citation correct, and could he direct me to the dept of the university that sells theses and dissertations.

The advisor wrote back with an attached pdf copy of the thesis, for free! (And yes, the citation was wrong, both title and year. Gotta love engineers.)

We do that on purpose, to keep the librarians employed. :-P

Let me see if I have this right.... useless name, wrong year, wrong title, and you not only found it but you got it for free?

I don't know what you make, but you don't get paid enough.

Here's a challenge worthy of you. Some guy named George Bash said in 2002 that there are Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Find them. (:-)

Sorry, I can only find things that actually exist.

I won't be fully convinced they aren't there until you look, oh magic goddess of miracle information retrieval.

Oh, and where is my checkbook? (:-)
