This is probably one of the most efficient ways I could handle distributing word. I'm having surgery tomorrow to take care of my uterine fibroids (this is not cancer, but they have been giving me pain off and on all spring, and worse lately).

I'll be out of work for a month or a bit more, and there's no GNE and probably no Pennsic either in my summer. But I'll still work on the reign, the polls, and other SCA admin stuff from the comfort of my living room. I'll be around on LJ after the first coupla days, and of course by email or phone.

I'd appreciate good thoughts in my direction, if you-all would.

Blech! Good thoughts from the other coast. FWIW, I know others who've gone through this, including my sister-in-law, and they've come out of it okay.

be gentle with yourself! don't do too much and just let yourself recover. Surgery is hard on your body, no matter what anybody says. Good thoughts and wishes go with you.

I hope everything goes supurbly and you're back to normal quickly. But do take enough time to rest; surgery is surgery, after all. (Bummer about Pennsic.)

I second (or third, fifth, twelfth, etc) everyone elses good thoughts. Take the time you need to get better--starting to do stuff before you are ready does not make for a happy recovery later on. Good luck, and I will be sending good wishes & prayers your way.

Good thoughts. [If this had been a month earlier, I would have sent fresh strawberries as well -- I know from experience that they make good post-surgery fare :-) ]

It can be a tough decision, speaking from way-way-too-much experience. I believe that, when it is all over, you will be a happier soul and more at ease.

Lots of love!

Sending wishes for an uneventful recovery. Do let me know if I can do anything - cook, run errands, play doumbek at your feet. OK, maybe not the doumbek. But the others - I have car, kitchen, and clue and I'm not afraid to use them.

of course

Remarkably, I've never found out a friend was facing surgery online before. In person, where I can gauge reaction, I generally try to be funny — nothing served me better when I had cancer than my sense of humor. So: tell them in a firm voice that when you get the bill, you expect to also be given any broken parts they charge you for replacing....
