But color me guilty. While I was appalled to see Christmas decorations out already -- in my view, Columbus Day is premature! -- I did buy a silly polarbear-and-penguin thing, for the next Stars of the Arctic Allstate Banquet. But I feel bad for encouraging the shop to sell Christmas things when it's barely back-to-school in these parts.

I have been saying for well over a decade that 'Christmas does not start until after Halloween'.

As a small business owner who expects a big bump in sales for the holidays, I'm now looking at this and sort of wishing I'd never said it.

That said? Even now, Christmas does not start until after Halloween (though my prep for Christmas certainly does!).
