Friday - visitation at Contentment chapter in Dedham.

Saturday - shoppingses. Help me fight temptation re: whether I "need" this dress from Nordstrom Rack. It's changeable pink and grey silk, it's more than 50% off, it's a sz 12!

Saturday night - dinner at Gargoyles with [livejournal.com profile] learnedax and [livejournal.com profile] cat9, then onward to the Steeleye Span concert. (OMG The first time I saw them perform was in 1986 at Nightstage.) Ran into many people we knew from many contexts - the McANultys, the Traites, Marsy's mom, a colleague of [livejournal.com profile] jducoeur's uncle Bob. We stayed and got Maddy and Peter to autograph the booklet of the new CD.

Sunday - apple picking on an utterly perfect autumn day. What a fabulous tradition!!

Late afternoon - while [livejournal.com profile] judcoeur got the new mailbox installed, I hauled the old dead freezer out to the curb for the city appliance recycling pickup.

I'm no help, I think it's pretty.

That said? Check the construction. It'll probably make you cranky enough to not buy it.

Well. Shows how much I've been keeping up. Last I heard, Maddy had left the band, which was what Gay Woods' return was all about. (BTW, the lineup with Maddy and Gay, plus the amazing Liam Gennocky on drums, was their best ever IMO.)

Concert and CD reviews, pleeeze. What's the current lineup?

Steeleye

Concert was very good. Not the "best I've ever heard them do", which would've been London, 1995, but you'll get no complaints here. The set list included: Tam Lin, Seagull, Betsy Bell & Mary Gray, I Live Not Where I Love, They Called Her Babylon, The Story of the Scullion King, Thomas the Rhymer, others. (The NY City crowd who saw them last night may fill in the blanks of my memory.) Encores were Hard Times in Old England, and All Around My Hat.

This was the kickoff for the US tour, so they may modify that set list going forward.

The current lineup is Maddy, Peter Knight, and Liam, plus Pete Zorn on bass and Ken Nicol on guitar.
