Couple of outcomes from my week at Pennsic:

I feel somewhat recharged and with a fresh/supportive mandate to do more heraldry and to help fix the EKCOH.

I am considering the notion of additional proteges. I was startled by the person who was surprised I have only one, which made me think maybe more than one is a good idea.

Spending my time making garb, when I could be doing administrative stuff that I find far more fascinating, is just a waste when there are merchants out there making nice clothes.

There needs to be more silliness. Running amok, playing games (even badly), singing funny songs.

A hood makes any random t-tunic look more like an Outfit.

Next year: BACON! The smell wafting from next door most mornings made me whiny with envy.

Bacon is an essential part of the Pennsic Experience. The Bacon Alarm is the only way to wake up :-) Partly because the local Giant Eagles all carry this lovely thick-sliced, heavily peppered bacon.

... and is in fact a war game. How many repetitions of the word 'bacon', while cooking bacon, does it take to get Richard out of bed?

Indeed. Hip hip.

No more unwanted or homeless heralds.

Fix the EKCOH!

(PS What's broken these days? Anything new?)

I haven't given up the idea of making myself a cotehardie, but some day I'm either going to give up having one or throw money at it. I'd rather sew flat stuff than shaped stuff.

Well... I miss cooking for folk in the am. Canadian rashers only, though. :-)

I have this funny mental image of you asking each person in our encampment what their religious background is before passing the platter....

Huh. Because my background is ethnically Jewish, I assume? This issue wouldn't have occurred to me, since my family has been mostly more or less secular for generations, but I guess I can understand the viewpoint...

Yaas. I may not agree with it, but I do at least understand the logic behind it...
