As we were pulling out, a bit before 2:00, jducoeur says to me, "Dad's not home anyway so we would be using his house but not seeing him; we could decide to blast straight through and sleep in our own house tonight." So we considered that til we got to the Scranton hypotenuse, and decided to come on home, where the bed and shower are lovely and our kitties were happy to see us.

I rather enjoy staying at one of the motels at Splash Lagoon in Erie. It's only two hours down the road or so, but an an afternoon of waterparking after packing out is just the ticket for me. I suppose one could spend a few hours there and then probably make it as far as Rochester, or perhaps even Syracuse, if you wanted to split a two day trip up a bit more evenly.
