Hm. Seems that "to Boskone" has verbified.

I understand the reference, but what is the definition of this new verb?

To make administrative changes to your convention which make it smaller or more specifically targeted.

Ah. I was catching the *original* reference. :)

I think I have the rest from context.

It began when Boskone and Arisia separated. Readercon has proposed some changes for next year which may or may not have comparable effects.

Slight correction. Boskone and Arisia were not together. Boskone folks decided to not have a recognized costuming element, and I think maybe some other things. Also, they moved to Springfield, at least for a while (cheaper venue?). Some folks who wanted a con like Boskone used to be, started up Arisia -- most of the founders of Arisia were from UMass Amherst, specifically UMSFS members.

I hadn't known about the UMass ties. But I was one of the recipients of The Letter, when Boskone decided it didn't want my kind around.

Ayup. The founder of Arisia was one of Bergental's very early members!

Ah yes, The Letter. *sigh*

Yeah, our club had been running NJAC for a while, and decided that Boskone didn't know what they were doing, so a bunch of our guys thought a replacement was in order :D I expect the current crew is a mix of people from all over MA these days -- plus some of the founders live out that way now, so less of a commute for them.

I haven't been to a con in some years, just too busy with other things. Every now and then I'm tempted though ;)

I thought it was when your con was kicked out of a major city and moved to a 3rd tier location. At least, that was my recollection when attending them as a kid / teen. I seem to recall BASH as well.

I also recall watching Lensman at Boskone, which was all kinds of funny, given the main bad guy's name was Boskone.

Hm. Curious. Was it verbified, or verbiated?
