This is a photo of the California Nebula from apod, Astronomy Picture of the Day, which gives you a different image of space every day. RSS feed available or you can visit the APOD site. My wallpaper changes at whim when I find a new image I love, especially starscapes.

That's beautiful! At first I was like, why do they call it the "California" nebula, then I noticed it was the same shape as the state I live in. Duuuhhhh...

My wallpaper is plain Microsoft Blue, which is to say, I have no wallpaper. I currently have 64 icons on my desktop (yes, some should be purged or consolidated in folders, I know) and I like a clean background behind them.
