Ruby Relaxer

Teh Intarweb claims that this is the recipe for a Ruby Relaxer as served at Ruby Tuesday's restaurant. Worth trying it out anyway:

1 oz. vodka
1 oz. coconut rum
1 oz. peach schnapps
2 oz. pineapple juice
2 oz. cranberry juice
garnish with a slice of fresh orange

I haven't tried that, but it sounds tasty. It also sounds as if "relax" is putting it mildly...

That sounds tasty.

Check me on this (I'm not fluent in mixology), but isn't this rather more alcohol than usually goes into a single drink?

Well, it varies pretty widely; a Manhattan or a Martini is rather stronger than that, but a fruit juice drink like this would probably be a bit on the lighter side. Recently there's been more of a tendency to add extra liquor, especially vodka, to all drinks. You could probably omit the vodka and still have quite a nice drink.

It's a tad strong, but not unusual -- for example, it's only a bit stronger than the cocktails that I was serving at our Memorial Day Party on Monday. (Long Island Lemonade, which involves five different boozes.)

Calculating it out, the boozes in the above average roughly 1/3 alcohol (ballpark), so that's about 1 ounce of solid alcohol. So it comes out to a bit more than one glass of wine or bottle of beer, but less than two...

Yeah, I guess you're right -- the schnapps is way lower in alcohol than the vodka. (I don't know what "coconut rum" is; I was counting it as rum, but if it's dilluted some that would be relevant.) Regardless, it does sound tasty!

That sounds like it would certainly smooth an evening right out! Thanks for sharing!
