61 entrants, it appears, in Spring Crown Tournament. I'm waiting for confirmation, which I expect to get, that we will do the usual procession before the list.

(Do folks want me to post the re-ordered list closer to the tourney date, once I've shuffled around Master Phillip's list?)

Not sure if you can fix this or not, but my lady is a 'lady' :)

I'm assuming the list was compiled previous to the last few Court Reports, as Sir Antonio's Elizabeth is a Baroness now, as well.

ETA: Although in retrospect, that doesn't make much sense, since she got her had at the same event he got knighted...

I think the error in my case is due to the fact that the name under which I received my AOA turned out to not be approved and had to change slightly. And I'm still awaiting confirmation that the name went through.

No problem. (It's one of several visible errors that I'll be fixing.)

61 is a pretty good number. 3 byes, all out by the end of the second round.

Ah, a list that has the consorts too. I like that.

random OoP Question

From: [identity profile] etherial.livejournal.com
Suppose Duke X ruled in the West is AS 12, and in the East in AS 20. Duke Y ruled in the East in AS 19 and 21. Who goes first? Does the number/date of reigns matter alone or the number/date of reigns in this Kingdom? Does number even matter if they're both Dukes?

Duke X outranks Duke Y because he became a duke before Y did. Unless I'm wrong.

I concur with your assessment, but I had a discussion with a gentle who believed that Duke Y outranked Duke X in the East because he has reigned both earlier and more often in the East.

Just because said gentle believed it doesn't make it true. :)

The East Kingdom Order of March does not distinguish between "native" Dukes and other Dukes.

Oh yes. The first rule about arguing authenticity on the internet is that the first one to say something without documentation is wrong.

[livejournal.com profile] palegreyminion is correct.
Also, the fact that Darius and Lucan have reigned more times than Vissevald does not mean they outrank him: he became a Duke first.

You have correctly guessed one of the names that came up in that discussion. Thanks for the double-check.

And interestingly, this is a problem that sorts itself out if you think about the interactions between the people involved. I'm senior to Lucan because Lucan thinks of me as a duke from his youth, even though he is a much more accomplished fighter than I ever was, just as I would think of Akbar as clearly senior to me since he was already a duke when I was still dreaming of glory.

Do you want title corrections, or is that more head-achy and nit picky than it is worth?

Date: 2009-04-21 01:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] msmemory.livejournal.com
Yes, please. Either corrections that also need to be corrected in OP records, or those that represent alternate titles (e.g. Jarl).
Here or by private mail, as please you.

Totally want the corrected list. I geek over that sort of thing when in the mood. Since I'm moving and shouldn't spend time on it, I'm in the mood. :)

There are so many op things that need corrected. I am pretty sure that the first 3 are in the wrong order. I think Visivald was duke first, then Lucan, than Darius.

Konrad goes by Graf, not Count.

and Thorsen is definately before Konrad

The knights are all in the wrong order, Antonio is probably the last night IIRC.

OKok, I don't want to go on. I know it was just a quick list, but it would be nice if it was corrected. A lot of people in the east don't know very much about OP and it would be helpful to show them the correct list.

Thanks for linking the post. I thought there was only 59 entrants so a few more were added.

The list was put together by Master Phillip, the kingdom seneschal, and I don't think he's especially tuned in to the whole rank "thing." I'll be fixing it.

ETA: He's got them in groups, and alphabetical within the groups. It's not random.

ohhhh, ok. somewhat makes sense.

And we cannot forget the ranks of the consorts. IIRC, they count too. For example, Baron Dietrich would rank higher because his consort is Mistress Katherine Barr. I could be wrong on that though.

thanks!

That depends on the wishes of the crown, and varies from Crown Tourney to Crown Tourney. The last one I fought in, I started higher because I was fighting for a Baron with a grant, and only had an AOA and Crescent myself.

The last bunch that I have been at/seen lists for have not counted the consort's rank, though.

Yes, that is true, when Yesungge was still a Huscarl as highest rank we lined up on his fighting award not my rank, otherwise we'd had been higher up in the list :) Most time is it the 'fighting' award that determine the position - Royal Peerages counting as a fighting awards.

This crown is a bit south for our participation, hopefully we'll be lined up again in the fall.

Only once did we line up by "the higher ranking member of the couple." Usually we line up by the rank of the fighter. In the case of you and that baron, you were both entered IIRC and lined up according to the rank of the senior fighter.

The time with Fergus,we were lined up by his rank. With Constantine, yes, we got his rank cause we were both fighting.

That's only true if the Crown wants it that way. In the vast majority of the Crowns in which my lord husband has championed me, we've been lined up according to his awards, not mine.

Caitlin, thanks very much for your work on this. A complete and ordered list will be a neat thing to have.

Hey, I would take pride in that myself. I know when Konrad was knighted, so many people were "it's about freaken time". I remember moving WAY up the line at the next crown. It was kindof cool. He took a lot of pride in being the baby knight.
