If we have to have a cat who needs a pill twice a day, at least we seem to have one who laps it right up with his canned food.

You are indeed lucky. I've had some pretty sneaky cats (and a sneaky dog) who have been able to eat around a pulverized pill mixed into wet food, leaving a pile of pill crumbs.

Wow.

One of my cats is currently getting pills twice a day (just for a couple weeks, fortunately), and I seem to be unable to get a whole pill into him. Fortunately, most of it gets into him if I crush it and mix it in with moist food. (He otherwise does not get moist food at all.)

We use one of those syringe-like pill popper devices to feed 'em to our cats, when they need them.
