I wonder how they matched up the spokespeople to the nominees. Did the spokespeople ask to represent the nominees? Were the nominees allowed to express a preference? Was ad-libbing permitted (yeah, they're actors, but several of them sounded extemporaneous.)?

With Whoopi Goldberg for Amy Adams (bring out the nun jokes), I think someone was planning for appropriate coincidences. Similar to "from one nutty professor to another"...

I'd have to go look at the roles each had played, to see what other coincidences were being crafted.
