Make your own library
For years,
jducoeur and I have joked that our massive piles of books and papers have been "fending off Fahrenheit 451," a reference to the Bradbury story. Alas for our bank account and clutter problem, "we don't have a copy yet" has been sufficient reason to acquire a book, hence the three different editions of the Britannica, for example.
The more I see of the DHS and Patriot II, the more I think that amassing our own private archival library is not a half-bad idea. Who knows what knowledge set will be censored next?

Library of Incongruity
What would you start with for your subversive list? I'd probably start with some fairly technical stuff, such as how to make guns, Islamic religious texts, lots of almanacs (I'm considering getting one and annotating it profusely and *entirely* randomly, just for a gesture of irony) aerial maps, USGS maps, constitutional law.... (Which reminds me, I saw the declaration of independence on chintz at the Fabric Place this week. What the heck would you do with such a thing?)
