Sometimes you gamble and lose. I took a nonrefundable hotel room, which gave me the best rate. We'll see if I'm even heading to the same region tonight. :(

Yep. I'm out the hotel money for this weekend completely, which makes it doubtful that I'd do anything other than daytrip if I go to the event next weekend. At least I can get a refund for the 12th Night reservation, or sell the Arisia membership, depending on which one I don't do.

sometimes it cant hurt to try anyway to cancel. I had non refundables in that nasty ice storm up here a few weeks back... and the hotel was nice and refunded it anyway. Just call them direct and try.

If they dont you arent really out anything.

I spoke nicely to their desk clerk. Then I spoke nicely to the frequent-guest service center for their chain, through which I had reserved. No dice. But I gave it a shot.
