Sometimes I just want to whap certain coworkers on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper.

I got email from somebody after I had left for the day on the Friday before Christmas, who wrote again today to up her demand "from my email of two weeks ago." Ten days, honeybun, of which I was out of the office all except today. Which means as far as I'm concerned that email arrived *yesterday.*

And your idea sucks, but I am planning on bringing heavier guns than "I don't want to" to bear on your little greedy notion of moving all the structural materials books out of the library and into your department's bookcase.

It doesn't work out as well as you'd think.

Ah, the first day back after a holiday break. Heck, I've only been out since Wednesday afternoon, and I still want to break out the rolled-up newspaper...

I love it when my boss gets worked up over a mistake on an invoice (or forgotten invoice) for the days I am away at Pennsic.

Just how far is it from this person's office to the library, anyway?

Do they not understand that for all intents and purposes in this country nothing gets done from the Friday before Christmas until the Monday after New Year's??

And if you're asking for a favor (which is what it seems this amounts to) you don't make demands (whether or not it's the winter holidays).

Or did his/her mom never mention that bit about catching more flies with honey than vinegar??

Just being empirical...

From a metaphorical point of view, I do agree with you. But come this summer, you really should test that assertion with small dishes of honey and, say, cider vinegar.

And no one ever specifies what they'd do with all the flies if they caught them, anyway. Do that many people raise frogs?

Actually I am trying to catch flies -- I want to be prepared in case my hero, Kermit the Frog, stops by for dinner.
