Right now, with the exception of my beloved, I am utterly tired of humans.

Saturday night was Last Visitation, and today was the Stars of Hope bus trip to Newport. I am peopled out. Don't wanna be polite, don't want to ask you about your children or holiday plans or even whether I'll see you at the Mistletoe Ball.

I recharge through alone time. Too many of my OES sisters recharge by sociability -- and right now, I am happy that they will NOT be doing so anywhere near me for almost three days. Tomorrow should be a nice quiet day at work, where I hope to hide in my office with a stack of data repair/entry jobs.

The Newport trip was quite nice. A bountiful lunch buffet, a nice wander through a Vanderbilt mansion in its Christmas attire, and a stop at the fanciful and slightly cheesy lights at the Lasallette Shrine. Done now, though.

Went to Lasallette when I was a kid on a date. It was, as you say, slightly cheesy but nice.

Which mansion? We just went Thanksgiving weekend to the Breakers again with all the Christmas decorations up.

I've been to the Breakers before, with a class field trip, but this was my first time at Marble House.

I highly recommend the Parker River Wildlife Refuge for moods like that. At this time of year it used to be pretty much deserted, but still open for the crazy people like me to go out and be totally alone.

It's one of the few places in New England I really miss.
