New machine II
Well, the reason my new computer at work had frozen several times on Friday and was slow even when it was running was a bad hard drive. So all of this morning was lost to having IT get me another one and reinstall my basic setup. THIS time I'm going to keep the list of packages right here even though the new machine seems sound, just in case we have to do this again any time soon. I must say it goes faster the second time.
Example: This disk has been running since about 10 am. It has now completed as much of the Google Desktop index as the old disk managed in all of Thurs + Fri.
