In no particular order....

It was hot. And humid. And hotter and humider. Ugh. I remember why we made sure to get Central Air in our new house. But it was hot and humid even to the people who aren't addicted to their creature comforts. It really sucks to take a clean tunic out of a bin and have it feel damp before you even finish getting dressed. (Next time - pack alternate lighter weight bedding: it can stay in a bin if the weather is cool.)

I was, and still am, bummed that I didn't get to use my fledgling heraldic skills all week. I was entirely superfluous and slightly snubbed at the formation of the procession for opening ceremonies. I couldn't help out at Svava's Ladies of the Rose tourney because it conflicted with in-camp prep for a party and royalty dinner. And not having found any way to find Rowen during the week, couldn't volunteer to assist with EK Court. {wistful sigh} Next year, eh?

That said, there were plenty of good points.

Sitting around sociably in camp with Lochleven. Dang, they're good hosts and good people just to be around. I'm glad to get to know them better. This year Lochleven camp felt like home, and not just because I said it in the Welcome Circle. And playing Werewolf. And the day Matilda's husband decided to make cold-water foot baths for all the ladies.

Shopping! Black Swan were out of the short-sleeved Flemish dresses, so I "settled" for another buttoned Herjolfsnes with linen undershift. Also purchased: period shoes!! A linen hood. A cotton sari, not the world's nicest, but pretty close to the cheapest. This year's Lady Tudor Glitz. Silk thread, because I intended to alter the Herjolfsnes so I could wear it right away if it weren't so hot. Got Master Roberto [or his journeyman] to shorten both my studded belts. Hooks for [livejournal.com profile] tpau. Hats for [livejournal.com profile] marysdress. Linen yardage for later. Oddly, no cookbooks.

Wolgemut! I would have missed their Thursday Wolgemutations electrified concert because it was during my dinner-prep scheduled chore, but they were rained out and performed Friday instead, so I was able to be there. They played "Tequila" on period instruments, and "Scottish Bransle" on modern rock instruments, and several other things with various other combinations, covering the whole gamut from harp solos to Led Zeppelin and Queen. Oh so very meta and nonperiod and completely wonderful.
