Not a whine
Dec. 1st, 2006 11:26 amToo many of my posts are whines. This one isn't.
jducoeur gave me an iPod for my birthday last summer. Over the last few weeks, it's been getting flakier and flakier, to the point where I had to hit the Reset function after every few songs (a nuisance when I'm just sitting around, a royal pain when I'm driving).
After working my way through the entire help section of Apple's online manual, upgrading iPod software and iTunes software, resetting, and even Restoring, culminating in getting an error message from Restore (!!), I took the thing back to the Apple store earlier this week. The Genius on duty listened to my explanation, hit Reset and listened to it, and proclaimed my hard drive D-E-D Dead. Off he trotted to the back room, and came back with a nice glossy brand-new iPod, and said, "Here you go. Covered under warranty. Let me just print out this receipt and get your signature."
Off I trotted, perfectly delighted with Apple's customer support. By bedtime that evening, I had it fully charged and reloaded with my songs, podcasts (NHPR's Front Porch with Doyle & McDonald), and playlists.
