Twitchy

Sonja from the Wicke rehab just phoned. Mother's spiking a temp, and throwing up. Dr. Wollman has ordered a chest and abdominal xray series, and a urinalysis.

I don't feel good about the whole thing. I did a lot, I think, to calm Mother on Saturday when I visited. Made sure she had the clothes, books, crosswords, and mail she wanted from her apartment, yammered on about my garden and listened to her talk about church. Chatted up the prospects for her going home as soon as she is able to walk to the dining room for meals. But she also wanted to make sure I knew where her safe deposit box is, and how to find her lawyers and will. She said at the time that she thinks she is "done," in the sense of not having accomplishments she still wants to achieve; she feels like she is waiting now. Still she looked more energetic than she did before the pacemaker.

Here's hoping she just ate too much Easter candy, but I dunno....

(no subject)

Dr. Wollman (geriatrician affiliated with rehab building) has sent Mother back to the hospital, where they can give her fluids and do some more tests. Dr. Sheiman (primary doc) will check in on her, and call me afterwards. (His speculation is that it might be the stomach bug he's seeing a lot of in the metro area.) I asked him to let me know if he thought it was grave enough for me to come down.
