For years, [livejournal.com profile] jducoeur and I have joked that our massive piles of books and papers have been "fending off Fahrenheit 451," a reference to the Bradbury story. Alas for our bank account and clutter problem, "we don't have a copy yet" has been sufficient reason to acquire a book, hence the three different editions of the Britannica, for example.

The more I see of the DHS and Patriot II, the more I think that amassing our own private archival library is not a half-bad idea. Who knows what knowledge set will be censored next?

I seem to have made an impression on the manager of the sales droid at the Toyota dealership. He called me again today, just to tell me they still hope to find me a car sooner than 1/23, which would be the approximate delivery date if they have to earmark me one that's still on the production line. And promised to call me again on Friday.

(Note that the sales droid herself has still not called me, and may have been cut out of this sale by her manager by now. Serves her right - no calls in 11 days is not customer service. She deserves to have her commission cut on this one.)
