How long does skunk scent persist outdoors? Since I can still smell skunk and it's been a week (including a rainstorm) should I conclude there's a critter corpse out there I need to track down and bag up for the trash collectors?

We get a fair amount of skunk activity here, but it usually fades within a couple of days. If the scent is still as strong, you either have skunks scenting in the same area on a regular basis, or noxious remains. Good luck!
