Sarah, Trig, and Bristol

In the last week, I have gone from snickering at John McCain's choice for veep, to wondering whether he actually intends to keep her. What if she demurely says "Under the circumstances, Mr. McCain, I feel I can no longer stand as this party's nominee for vice president."

He gets the points for suggesting a conservative and a woman. She gets press. Then he can go back to a secret Plan A and choose another old white guy, during the convention, and claim it's all to mend things up. He can back away from the baby scandals and the brother-in-law and the polar bears, and pick a less-Right guy more like himself, having "shown" that he supports women in high office.

Of course, he would lose the $$$ she brings in from the pro-life lobby and the NRA...

Not the NRA. The last issue of American Rifleman (NRA member mag) was 50% "Obama will take away our guns!" articles, 10% "McCain is OK", and 40% gun reviews and lists of the top 10 rifles everyone should own.

What was the publication date on the most recent issue? Had Palin been tapped at that point? I gather that the NRA was not a big fan of McCain, considering him the lesser of two evils, but Palin is a lifetime member and gun enthusiast.

As usual in politics, what interests me is who is paying. Not that both sides don't love their lobbyists...

I was reading it a day before Palin's announcement. It's not that the NRA isn't a big fan of McCain -- it's that they actively hate Obama.

Now, what did Obama ever do to them? Or is it the (perceived) "arrogance."

Dipshits.

Not really. He's already raised something like 10 million over the weekend. That's $$ he gets to keep.

Right, but he's got to keep it coming. Sadly, $10 million is a drop in the bucket when it comes to a presidential run.

Does that count money that's been pledged, but may not be in his pocket yet?

It seems the NRA members will vote for and shell out to anyone who is the least restrictive-- if they don't shell out *to* McCain's campaign, they'll just campaign *against* Obama like they did to the last 2 Democratic nominees.

Yeah, pretty much.
