Only a few more days til the Hundredth Anniversary Dinner. Thank God. I am totally fed up with people who don't pay, or don't rsvp, or don't let me know what they want for dinner til well after the deadline. Including one person who, I found out this afternoon, wanted salmon instead of chicken, but we gave the plate count to the caterer this morning. If it turns into a "thing" she can have my salmon.
And with the snipey little interpersonal politics of people who want to sit with one another, or refuse to sit on the same side of the room as one another. It's like a wedding.
After publishing a deadline of May 23, and holding a private deadline of May 31, we are still getting calls *today* wanting to squeak under the line. No. I'll take your name and you can check back in case we have a cancellation.

Date: 2008-06-05 01:08 am (UTC)I guess I thought that Eastern Star was a bit like Jr. League is supposed to be, with civilized ladies who write thank you notes, send their RSVPs, and act like adults.
Maybe Jr. League isn't like that anymore either!
