Root canal done. Delta Dental coughed up about half the cost, which uses up the last of my dental benefits for the year. The crown, and anything frivolous like another cleaning, will be out of pocket. There goes the proceeds of the last 3 books I read for [redacted].

Monday's party went well. [livejournal.com profile] jducoeur and I love to host these things. Maybe we should do another one in the late summer, for no reason. I'm sorry we missed many of you, but delighted in the company of those who were there. I'll be eating leftover salad and chips the rest of this week.

Last night's School For Deputies failed the event/car time ratio test. I'm not sorry I went, and I expect that a lot of Star stuff this year is going to fail that time test. (90 mins each way for a 90 min class) Joan's planning on using Powerpoint next year instead of just reading the handouts to the class, and she's a more energetic leader, so that's good. And next year I won't have to go, so it doesn't matter.

Yes, you should. Parties for no reason are the best kind.

Which ratio do you use for the "event/car time test?" Is it 1:1?

I usually use "Did I get to spend more time at (event) than I spent traveling back and forth?" In this case, a bit more than 2:1 travel:event, so fail.

My sympathies on the dental work and its associated cost. It's like they feel obligated to give that additional bit of pain to your purse as well as your mouth.

I just got off the phone with Delta Dental after getting a bill for a not insubstantial additional sum when I thought I had paid my share already. Apparently white fillings are covered to a lesser percentage than silver, even when the dentist deems them cosmetically necessary. Grumble, grumble.
