Summer Winter
My in-laws were in town last night since my FIL has a little outpatient surgical procedure at MEEI this morning (lifting an eyelid whose nerves were damaged by Bell's Palsy). ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
jducoeur was otherwise occupied with dance practice, so I had dinner with his father & stepmother myself.
Following a recommendation a few weeks back fromdreda and rising_moon, we went to Summer Winter in the Burlington Marriott. Our experience was that it was OK. Not Great, on the other hand also not Wedding Anniversary-level expensive either, and more convenient to the house than several known high-level spots we love.
Sandy, who is infamous for liking her meat rare, ordered the Kobe beef burger - and sent the first one back as overcooked. My yellowfin tuna, ordered rare, came a smidge more cooked than I would like, but adequate. Dave's whole trout seemed the best of the lot. The "little bites" which we had as appetizers were nifty, but not as innovative as I dreamed. The starches were good - the corn pudding especially - but looked like they had been made in batches in advance and cut from a pan-full. And I strongly suspect my cappuccino wasn't decaf.
Overall, we had a plesant meal, but I was hoping for something cutting edge and there was *nothing* cutting edge about it. If/when we go back, I'll probably try to stick to more local New England fare, roast chicken or roast duck and sides in the apple-corn range, which may be more solid choices.
