The ophthalmologist appointment for which I have been waiting 14 weeks is scheduled for the day we're supposed to get 9-14 inches of snow.

ETA: She cancelled, and we have rescheduled for next Monday.

Yeah, I just saw the weather forecast. When the heck did *that* happen?

They've actually been talking about it for several days. But it was hard to notice amidst the lovely weather we've been having, and the expected totals have been gradually rising...

As I read friends' LJs who live in CA and MN, I've been anticipating it for a while, but local reports haven't thought it was going to be snow until yesterday or the day before, I think.

Before that, it was expected as rain, and that ol' rule of thumb 1" rain = 10" snow (various quibbles in there, of course) doesn't seem so dramatic as rain.

Of course! Why would it be any other way?

What a wonderful weather surprise. Tomorrow was the first day we could get out to pick up the special food for Fielder's feeding tube. Guess I'll be heading out as early as humanly possible, and trying to get home safely before the really heavy stuff arrives.

14 weeks? Was there a really long wait for a particular specialist you wanted, or are they that thin on the ground more generally? Yikes.

Good luck with the snow.

Not a specialist, my regular eye doctor. I called in September, and was told for routine appointments (basically I need my glasses prescription reviewed, as it was 2 years old in October), they were booking January. I asked if I could see someone else in the practice group sooner, and was told no. I'm now waiting to see what happens with tomorrow's weather, because I really don't want to wait that long again if I have to reschedule.

I suppose that in September, or now, I could start calling random other practices in the area, but I've seen Dr. Smith two or three times now and been well satisfied, so hesitate to change.

With luck, *they* will call me and offer me another slot, say next Monday instead. Since Dr. Smith has children, she may want to rebook all her patients and stay home on the snow day.
