No long weekend for me. This company gives pretty much the bare minimum of holidays. Pout. I have so much to do, too. And I splurged and used a floater for Columbus Day, need to hoard the rest for Christmas week.

I hope I find a sweet old veteran selling paper poppies at the supermarket, though. "In Flanders Field, the poppies blow,...."

Edit: Corrected misquote. I always transfer "grow" from the end of the poem to the first couplet.

Red poppies are sold everywhere for charity here. The challenge is finding the white paper poppies representing peace. (Since everybody wears the red ones, I want the white ones. :) I can always find them in Glastonbury, though.

I'm not seeing as many places that sell the lapel pins/poppies these days as there used to be. I think many Americans have forgotten those. (My spouse reminded me of them when we were watching something about WWII awhile back ...)
