So far I have yet to see any costumes on my coworkers (though I know I'm not the only one who has one in a shopping bag under my desk in case it's needed). There's one entry in the Carved Pumpkin contest. Three people brought pot luck. A few folks decorated their offices/cubes.

When will corporate hq realize that the Church Social view they have of parties up there isn't shared by this site?! We just aren't as excited to create costumes, pumpkins, and casseroles on our own time and nickel for work-based parties. If I had time to make refreshments this week I'd either take them to Editrx, who's moving, or to share with Lochleven at Crown.

I think it's because the oxygen is thin at the rarified altitude at which they all reside. Because these are the same people who apparently truly believe that changing our review process from a conversation based process to a new set of software that everyone has to fill out will somehow "facilitate" the review conversation. Instead of eliminating it and making the whole thing completely de-humanizing.

Luckily for me, my department is very comfortable with our complete lack of socialness.

What, you don't like forced fun?! (Nope, not my thing either.)

At least for my new office it's an opt-in party, not an opt-out. Since I'm literally in the middle of moving, and have no garb within 500 miles, and am just not in a terribly festive mood right now, I'm going to be whatever the Halloween version of Scrooge is.
