Sugar high

I look at my diet and feel remorseful because there are still sweet things in it, like a Ghirardelli square as dessert after supper. Or a cookie or a peanut chew in midafternoon when my energy lags. Naughty, naughty, I say to myself, no wonder my weight has plateaued. Even though I'm generally being a good girl, and trying to move toward eating as though I were diabetic, as a way to lose weight and be more mindful of nutrition. (More grilled meat, fresh fish, and veggies!)

Then I fall way, way, off the wagon, as I did at lunchtime. Chris wanted to celebrate something at lunch & talked all of us into ordering dessert. I feel positively wasted because I had a whole piece of chocolate cheesecake. It's druggy. Definitely a sugar high. Whee!!! I think I won't be doing this very often any more.

Any diet that does not allow little nibbles or occasional blow-outs is a diet not worth being on! Food is a sensual pleasure, and unless you're taking some sort of holy vows, why give up a sensual pleasure completely?
