Well, it'll be a smaller Royal Champions list than it might have been. Lucan's Ducal Challenge is next door, in Bridge, the same day, also a camping event but advertising the royalty-free environment. Presumably a chunk of VDK and other RI/CT folks will go there instead.

"The best part of all is the congenial atmosphere that will bring you back to events of old. This is a place where pretension has no place and frivolity and fun are the rules of the weekend. Many an 'alternate' personae [sic] is brought out to protect the integrity of the well decorated."

Fascinating.

yes, very fascinating, considering that Lucan IS the King's Champion.

Lucan's event was announced at the same time Crossroads was, way before the rattan champion's tourney had been added.

I remember when Bridge's event was announced. Of course, since I was already planning on going to my group's event, I hadn't noticed the details, like the fact it would be Lucan's Challenge.....

It has been making for tough decisions for those of us near to both events.

I think the change from once to twice a year for the tourney will decrease the size of the list as well.

I think the shorter term diminishes the prestige of the office, too, but hey, it's the Crown's privilege to make what changes they wish.

Not only does it diminish the prestige, but it adds another RP event to an already heavy schedule, and increases the chances of smaller events losing out to RPs that are being held on the same date.

As you say, it's the Crown's privilege to make this changes, but I really don't understand the reasoning behind it.
