A passing

My friend Karen B. passed on today. She was one of my Eastern Star friends, relatively close in age to me, and already a BC survivor when we met. Remission ended for her a couple of years ago, and it was clear she wouldn't make it for many more; there were too many other sites and nodes involved. But she saw her eldest graduate from Smith, and her second child enter college planning on a teaching career. I wish she had lived two more years to see her dear friend Joan take the helm of the state OES chapter, in June 2009. Karen was always a warm and giving woman, of strong character and a wry sense of humor, who got as much as she could out of a life that was too damn short.

My condolances for the loss of your friend. It's never an easy thing, and I imagine the circumstances here make it all the more poignant for you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a dear friend is like losing part of yourself. I know that Karen will continue to live in your heart.
