I did it: I came out as a short-haired person at work today. I am still not used to being told I look cute however - I've never been the kind of girl people praised as cute (smart, or tall, or something, sure, but never cute).

I'm sure you look great! I know having long hair was a big part of what you think you look like, so 'coming out' must have been a little scary. I'm glad to hear your office was so enthusiastic ;-)

I still feel like a long-haired person temporarily playing short haired. But I'm liking it more and more as time goes on.

I have always hated "cute". Sexy or attractive is fine, but "cute" just smacks of ribbons and lace.

I think maybe people use "cute" because somehow "beautiful" became reserved for artificially-enhanced fashion models. Pity.
