Just listening to so many of my friends who've jumped into the BPAL hobby makes me wonder - is there a site that will give me "readers' advisory" service for perfumes? An "If you like these few perfumes, you'd probably like these others" thing? I have three or four scents I use recurringly, and there must be others with a similar-but-different personality that I'd like.

(ETA: Burberry "London"; Guerlain "Champs Elysees"; Bulgari "BLV"; Chanel "Cristalle")

Live journal user naamah_darling does a lot of reviews. I'm not into BPAL myself, but she might help.

Add [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling and [livejournal.com profile] almeda to your flist.
Also go to www.bpal.org and sign up for a free account.
And in case you're wondering why I follow the BPAL craze, I'm making and selling small wooden boxes that store BPAL imps. But check out Naamah for real talent at that.

I'll mention your boxes to some folks locally, though I know one discovered that ammo boxes serve nicely :)

Actually so did I! :D I'm using ammo boxes cut down to size for the interior grid work. The boxes themselvs are merely wooden boxes from the craft store painted and cut pretty. (Yes, I said cut. I'm learning to do Scandinavian Chip Carving, and I've carved a few patterns.

Echoing the "go sign up for bpal.org" rec. Most of the site is hidden from non-subscribes, but there's a whole section devoted to reccomendations. You'll have to have Fun With Search Functions, as it's rateher sophisticated, but I trust your l33t l1br4r14n sk1llz are up to it. :)

BTW, I might run in to you this weekend - I'm considering mooching hubby's room key and going swimming.

Hee. Which is more-or-less EXACTLY what I'm doing.

Thirding the rec for the bpal.org forum. [livejournal.com profile] bpalanonymous and [livejournal.com profile] sinandsalvation are two good BPAL comms for asking noob questions ... lots of lovely, helpful people there, some of whom will be happy to help you pick apart the notes of your fave perfumes and find the most similar Lab creations. ^_^ I'm karihan on the forum, and kariquirks over on the comms, so you'll know me if you see me ...
