I had written:
Now that there is contact info for the hotel on the Birka website, does that mean our block is available for reservations? I've been waiting for an announcement of that to be made. The hotel will take reservations any time, be sure to tell them you're with the SCA for the event called Birka. I highly suggest you call the hotel to verify the rates for the type of room you want. There are many types and sizes of rooms available, all with differing rates.

So, I guess I have to get the hotel reservations desk to list all the possible options til I can find the right price/options mix. And all that before I decide whether we're booking for one night or two. No idea whether we're looking at $90, or $140, and yes it matters.

I just made my own reservation and found it very easy - Used the phone number on the event announcement, was asked if I was part of a convention, told her I was with the Society for Creative Anachronism, gave her the rest of the info she asked (#adults, #children, smoking/non, etc), was quoted the $106 rate and all was done. This is the first year we've stayed there, so I don't know what it was like before, but I have no complaints.

Please note huge numbers of us told the barony bueracracy that she was not the person to put in that spot... she is tits on a bull. But she butt kisses the right people and whala!
(sorry Ian. I know you like her but she is not one wo should have been given that position. Many of us said things like this would happen and IMO its only the start.)

Oh, I'm not trying to get her removed, I'm just whining about the lack of updated information. (Also, I heard thru my grapevine that people "in the know" had been told the hotel reservations were open, but the rest of us had not, and I think that's unfair.)

that was part of the issue... lots of behind the backs stuff. lack of actual knowledge on how to do things... just is all falling into what many of us said would happen, and that is sad. it will pull off because others will pick up the peices, and upsetting that credit will not not go where it is due. Just ranting. part of the reasons I have pulled out of a lot of the sca.
