Public Service Announcement:
The problem has been escalated via the chain of command.

Folks, please remember that the Hapless Autocrat isn't in a place where she can do much about it. AFAIK, she doesn't even have a complete list of teachers and their contact info. I wish she had been allowed to run the event completely, herself: we'd have ended up with a larger-scope version of the two really nifty scholae she did earlier. Instead, she's stuck between a kingdom officer who's not being helpful, and the large swath of teachers & students who need help and direction, for whom she can't do an awful lot.

The autocrat, [livejournal.com profile] tpau, is my protegee and I stand behind her.

Well said.

Perhaps Tpau needs a kingdom office???

Or, more accurately, does a kingdom office need Tpau?

;-)

We should not need a whole office just for the purpose of extracting information and/or giving current officers a quick boot in the seat of the pants. A special dispensation to apply a clue should be sufficient.

Certainly, given permission, I don't doubt tpau would manage :)

Hi there,

I apologize if my commentaries of floundering on LJ, and inquiries of her on the status of the schedule have added to any undue stress. At the moment I am weighing whether or not I _should_ teach at EKU, not so much of because of not knowing where the schedule lies, but because of recent mundania issues that have left me feeling toasty in the last two weeks.

I will definitely get back to both of you tonight on this, and will run it past Jon about backing out of offering this class at EKU - with an option to run it at some future event. Currently, not breaking myself seems the wise choice, but I want to think it through tonight after work.

At the very least, I would still like to attend if at all possible.

Thank you....

Nope, it's not (only) you. Nor is it just a LiveJournal thing. It's people I've talked to at Falling Leaves and at Crown, and people emailing on the local list, and more.

I hate doing this, but it looks like I'm going to have to back out of teaching. With the stress issues I have been having lately, and the class handout being only half done, I don't want to rush things and present a hurried class together. I'm still working on the handout, so I can teach this at another time, but would like to slow things up and present a better class.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope everyone understands. (I'll still be at the event, as a student).

I hope my own personal post on the issue hasn't made you or Constance feel that I am blaming her at all. I definitely know where the blame lies on this one and am just venting my general annoyance at not being able to plan my weekend.

Didn't realize [livejournal.com profile] tpau was the autocrat. :) I don't know her but enjoy reading her posts on the Carolingia friends page.

Rest assured I don't blame her at all. I'm familiar with the University thing from Atlantia and knew it's a Kingdom level thing.

{rant}I am more than frustrated however that no general announcement of the schedule has been made on the East Kingdom List. I understand that there is a website that is hopefully going to be updated today. That doesn't mean an e-mail couldn't go out. {/rant}

I sent the Baron an approving note to his note on Carolingia about the frustration. I concur with him and with you. I'm not a mover-and-shaker these days (someday again!) but if it's possible to tell folks what news you hear from Kingdom, I'd like to know it. (If it's semi-confidential, I'll understand not hearing.) And know that you and others escalating this have support behind you.

Grrr.

In Iron Bog, we had the same problem with the prior two Chancellors. I was involved in both of them (head cook once, event steward the next time) and I don't think we'd do it again. Removing control of the major portion of the event is frustrating at best. I had, however, expected better from this Chancellor from my own experiences with her. *le sigh*
