Bad girl

Finished Hammered today. I haven't quite finished Privilege of the Sword. There's a pile of Unread Books here, many of them the result of Larry's table in the ReaderCon dealers' room. I'm expecting a freelance job Real Soon Now. So what did I do? I ordered the two sequels to Hammered, the new Delia Sherman, the new Sherwood Smith, and a couple other things from Amazon.

Bad girl :)

I will be interested to see what you think about Privilege of the Sword. Allison is a huge Ellen Kushner fan and of course has already read the book, which I need to get to soon.

She just got a limited edition hardcover of it this week.

I liked Privilege of the Sword, though I would have preferred a more subtle handling of the climax, and I thought the denouement was a bit rushed. But I also liked the other books she set in that world.

In my own defense, I abandoned two books in the general library at the B&B where we stayed last week. One I didn't need to reread (The Devil Wears Prada -- funny, but if you saw the movie, you're all set) and the other mediocre (the Pevensey kids fall into a Joel Rosenberg book by way of E. Nesbit -- alas I already forgot its name).

A shame it was mediocre, the short description sounds quite interesting.

A little sleuthing through my LibraryThing entries dated shortly after ReaderCon turn up that it was The Secret Country by Pamela Dean.
