It's a wonder that this happens, given the abundance of warning signs and flashing yellow lights and whatnot. But there's always someone who figures that the roof of the underpass will magically rise because...it's me.
The absurd limit of this is the Pawtucket Bridge on I-95 in RI. The signs that give the tonnage limit and the "2 axles per unit" warning and the "EXIT NOW" instruction start in Connecticut. Oh, and the "$3000 FINE!" warning -- the decimal point is not missing. But there's almost always a semi pulled over with a police car behind it.
